I have recently applied to university and want to study Law. As a future Law major, I want to effectively use every platform and chance I get to impact the lives of others. The topics of discrimination, activism, equality, etc. are those that spark conversation and I believe they should, especially among teenagers because, ultimately, we have the biggest chance to change the current political climate of the world. Specifically, in Turkish culture, these topics are are not commonly talked about. However being a former organizer of the event at our school, I know that TEDxYouth@EyüboğluHS shines a light on topics like these, which is very important to me.

In the 21st century, especially with social media, labels are a big part of our lives. It has become increasingly easy for us to categorize people and sometimes we do so in a way that is harmful to them. With those labels, we unintentionally alienate people and, in the long run, create minorities that are discriminated against by the general public. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." As teenagers, I believe that we have the biggest chance to do so. I will be focusing on the discrimination of minority groups whether it be women, children, LGBTQ+ or members of an ethnic minority. I hope to start a conversation among audience members because I believe that even the smallest change can have a huge impact.
