Melis Elda Koldemir

Student at Şişli Terakki High School

I’m a tenth grader at Şişli Terakki High School. I love reading and drawing. I even try to write my own stories and draw the characters to improve my drawing. I have a special interest in graphics, animation and sports, especially martial arts. I have also been to many MUN Conferences as part of my extracurricular activities programme. I have been doing taekwondo for three years and currently I have a red- black belt. Recently, I have developed an interest in IT and new technologies; I even attended a workshop about data mining. In the future, I would like to study astrophysics or quantum because I believe that it’s worth finding out about the mysteries of the universe.

What Taekwondo taught me about life

Taekwondo teaches you when it is okay to choose to fight or flee. The philosophy of it is applicable to real life experiences, especially when dealing with people successfully. I am also going to help people explore how to achieve this. Taking into account the consequences of your actions makes a huge difference to the outcome.
