What makes a successful concert?

My talk is essentially about music. Music itself is very much in harmony with the event theme; it is a connection between people that can spread really fast and can have a big impact in a large group of people, across cultures and geographies. Like a stone falling into the water, it starts its journey from a single point and can travel long distances, survive several years. Like a ripple effect, it is harmoniously spreading larger and farther, touching people’s souls. I believe music is one of the strongest symbols of the ripple image. In my talk, I visit the factors that make this effect even stronger. A good concert is always a good place to be. Most of us don’t really think about why we like concerts and live music so much; it just seems like a very entertaining and fun environment to spend time in, but what makes a concert unforgettable? I will be elaborating on the three things that make the concert you go to a great part of your life.

Student at Şişli Terakki High School

My name is Semra Akkaya. I’m 15 years old and am a student at Terakki Foundation Schools. Music, science and history are a major part of my life. I’ve been playing the piano since I was 5. I also love to learn about the evolution of music. For the past couple of years, I’ve also been quite interested in learning about historic events and exploring the world of science. In addition to these, I travel a lot with my family. Up to now, I’ve been to over 20 countries, and I’ve met many people from many different kinds of cultures. This made me a more open-minded person.

I like sharing my ideas, thoughts and experiences with people. I thought TEDxYouth was a great oppotunity for me to spread my ideas. I see TED as a very big and exceptional community. I have been watching TED talks for a while, on many different subjects. They are all very inspiring. I think it is a privilege to talk in front of such a nice audience.
