From Guidance to Definition: AI and the Human Mind Performance
In a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, we are constantly predicted, influenced, and limited by systems that claim to understand us. From social media feeds to emerging brain technologies like Neuralink, these systems attempt to define what we see, do, and even think. While technology can guide us, true human genius lies beyond patterns and predictions.
This talk explores three key ideas:
- Algorithms Shape Our Thinking: Social media and AI create bubbles, limiting exposure to new ideas and reducing independent thinking.
- Technology Is Taking Control of Our Minds: Brain-computer interfaces, such as Neuralink, are beginning to interact directly with our thoughts, raising questions about influence, control and freedom.
- True Genius Comes from Breaking Patterns: Creativity, originality, independent thinking and feelings cannot be fully predicted by algorithms; human innovation comes from challenging our creativity and not following patterns.
The central question of this talk is: What happens when AI goes beyond guiding us and starts defining who we are and what we do?

Cansu Uzel is a 10th-grade student at Eyüboğlu High Schools. She was born and raised in Istanbul. During her early primary school years, she lived in Indonesia, an experience that exposed her to different cultures and broadened her perspective from a young age, shaping the way she understands people and global issues.
As a high school student, she is continuing to explore her interests, with a particular focus on international relations and law, which she hopes to study in the future. She is eager to discover how human perspective and decision making goes beyond AI. In her talk, she explores how these topics remain essential in a world increasingly shaped by AI.
