Innovation After AI: The Cost of Convenience

All inventions stem from the same thing: imperfection. When we encounter areas of imperfection, we get innovative and seek to improve them, leading to the creation of inventions.

Invention has been this way since the beginning of civilization and will continue to transpire in this way. However, in today’s world, everyone jumps at the opportunity to do something the “convenient” way despite the fact that this comes at the expense of hardships in the long-term. When we eliminate these struggles and imperfections from our tasks by using AI tools too often, we lose the one thing that leads to innovation. Hence, understanding how to use AI productively is essential. Unless we slow down and reflect on our work, we won’t ever encounter the smallest imperfections that lead to the greatest inventions.

So, which is it: short-term relief, or long-term development?
